Umno supreme council member Sohaimi Shahadan today said the Selangor state government is "discriminating against Malays" by allegedly closing down a Giat Mara vocational training centre in Selayang.

He said the state government is planning to hand over the land, where the centre is situated, to the Selangor State Investment Centre (SSIC) for commercial purposes and to set up an aviation repair centre.

"The people of Selangor, especially the Malays, must open their eyes and see the discrimination that is being done by the Selangor state government against Malays," he said in a statement.

Sohaimi (right) said the state's plan "undoes" all the work Mara has put in to produce more vocational talents, adding that the state's actions were motivated by "business profits."

"Their agenda is clear trying to reap as much profit as they can and at the same time stopping the efforts to produce more bumiputera in vocational fields," he said.

He said the state government, with this, is vying to win more non-bumiputera and capitalist support.

However, in a short response on his Twitter profile, Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that he would respond on the issue tomorrow after the state exco meeting.

He added that BN is "inaccurate and confusing".
