Hell hath no fury like a man whose automated teller machine (ATM) card is swallowed by an ATM!
A man vented his anger and damaged seven ATMs at a bank in Menglembu near Ipoh on Saturday night - all because his ATM card was swallowed by one.
Using a knife, the 35-year-old, believed to have been drunk at the time, broke the screens of the seven ATMs in the incident about 10.10pm.
City police chief ACP Sum Chang Keong said a police team detained the suspect, from Taman Pinji Mewah, Lahat and seized a knife to facilitate investigations.
He said preliminary investigations revealed the suspect, who was allegedly drunk at that time, became furious when one of the ATMs swallowed his bank card.
“Whipping out a knife, the man damaged the screens of seven ATMs,” he said in a statement in Ipoh yesterday.
Sum said the case was investigated under Section 6 (1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
