Onyourtoes: Khairy Jamaluddin, managing a country is not 'form' but 'substance'; is not 'one's public image' but 'one's real character'.
I think Malaysian politicians, particularly those from Umno-BN, have been too occupied with creating an aura, an image, and a public impression, thinking that the people will be stupid to continue to buy their snake oil.
The false pretence can go on for a while, but sooner or later the reality will hit us. The malaise besetting Malaysia today is the culmination of years of moronic polices, incompetence, corruption and stupidity all around.
Seriously, why don't you sit down to honestly draw up a list of successful things that the government has accomplished the past few decades?
Yes, we were very successful in inculcating mediocrity, promoting corruption and wastage, cultivating religiosity mythology), nurturing cronies and rent-seekers and creating monopolies and cartels. I couldn't think of any other things that the BN government has done successfully except those I listed. I am open to challenge.
Fn: We have reached a point of no return. Just go back to the speech at the last Umno Youth general assembly. One Umno leader said that there is no need for excuses to be given to anyone for the flamboyant lifestyles of Umno members who own Porsches, etc. He earned a thumping response from the members then. So carry on.

Who was it who gave the silly primary school explanations that Wanita chief Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's family's cow condos purchases were "investment of idle funds" and Najib wasting our money to buy votes with BR1M was "generating spending good for the economy"? You were in fact justifying the wastage that has caused us the present price increases.

Cry, My Beloved Country: The rakyat's anger over the price hikes is real. Hmm... cutting costs - would this include the costs for the lease of two aircrafts, the alleged air travel for a questionable official trip to the Middle East, and RM2.2 million for lighting because you cannot entertain guests in candlelight ? Over to you, YB Khairy.
Zen: BN can improve its delivery performance if:
1. Politicians talk less in the media and listen more to the rakyat's grievances.
2. If there is no necessity to talk, buck up. Don't talk for the sake of talking.
3. Implement policies that can be felt by the rakyat.
4. Don't show off your big houses, cars, and high standard of living to the suffering rakyat.
5. Be firm and wise in your actions and don't ever show any sign of indecisiveness .
6. Gut order after any important announcement to avoid 'little napoleons' from making the usual stupid follow-up statements.
7. Be fair to peace loving Malaysians and jail the troublemakers quickly to avoid counter-troublemakers from worsening the situation further.
8. Cut escalating prices detrimental to the rakyat's wellbeing immediately.
Ksn: Khairy, you are right about 'syok sendiri' but that description and assessment extends to all Umno Baru BN members of Parliament and the government as well.
The last general election sent a most telling message to Umno Baru - other BN partners not counted - that people want changes, good governance by competent people, eliminate corruption, cronyism, extravagance, abuses of public funds, laws, independence, capable public institutions, transparency, end to fanaticism, and constructive policies towards nation-building.
Their absence is 'syok sendiri', Khairy.

PM: Gov't not solely to blame for price hikes
Shibboleth: "Unfair to solely blame the government on the hike in the price of goods". I think Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak is right. We must also blame PKR de facto leader Anwar Ibrahim and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng. Najib has to compete with them to stay in power so he has to give out 1Malaysia People's Aid BR1M. and other goodies.
Government debt increased; so tax has to increase. If the driver takes a wrong turn or runs a red light, it's also your fault - for not stopping him!
Open minded: Najib, in the midst of all these price increases, one of your state chief ministers has spent lavishly for his child's wedding. If he was sensitive and concerned for the rakyat, he would have spent on a modest scale.
So, check and put your own house in order before you dispense any advice to us. You seriously lack proper leadership qualities in a position that is so vital for national unity and survival at this stage.
Sleepy : I do not agree with the PM's statement on price hikes. The effects of financial mismanagement and corruption all these years are now being felt by price increases and subsidy rationalisation. Blame those who are managing our finances and creating wrong/stupid policies instead of blaming the rakyat.
