How I wish we had ISA, says police chief
Kingfisher: Inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar seems amusing. Going by what one reads in the press, he rarely has anything in-depth and substantial to say on many serious matters.
While there is little doubt that he must have risen up the ranks by dint of hard work, he should be more serious as head of PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police) and explain with some rational substance why he prefers an insidious law that many have opposed for so long.
Senior: What's wrong? Detention without trial is not right and even Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak agrees that the law had been abused and misused. The police want it so they can do less work.
2LAN: How I wish our police force will work for the rakyat and not BN. How I wish we have better qualified people for the top jobs instead of a bunch of yes-men.
Ferdtan: Oh, you wish? Security Offences (Special Measures) Act (Sosma) and Internal Security Act (ISA) together - are they to enable you to perform your duty to keep the country safe?
Khalid, we wish to ask you - to keep the country safe from whom? Umno? Who are the enemies that you can have such a powerful law to put under detention anyone without open trial?
Yes, of course Dr Mahathir Mohamad would love it and he has called for it to be reinstated. The old man is reminiscing of the past when he was all-powerful and had the luxury of using it.
In one fell swoop in the 1987 Operation Lalang, he detained 106 people including many opposition leaders, just to keep him in power.
Khalid, keep on dreaming. We, the rakyat, will not allow ISA back again even though Sosma is almost as draconian as the old detention law.

Well, nincompoop chief, you can wish for lots of things; but it is also my wish that someday you will be sacked for trying to venture into realms that are clearly not yours.
The ISA is antithesis to our way of life - a democratic society free from dictatorship, tyranny and brutality. As a police chief, you have just made “inciting statements” and gone against the national ethos of this country.
Someday, the national police force must be broken up and put under the respective state jurisdiction. A national police force for country like Malaysia is a no-go.
The unelected institution bearing arms and ammunition is getting too powerful for democracy to work.

If the police are too lazy to investigate properly and charge them under existing laws, we all suffer while they lament about ISA.
ISA means locking people away that you can't prove should be locked away. It is political tool only nothing more.

Gggg: If the police need the ISA then it shows they lack the intelligence and skills to gather evidence through proper investigation. In short, the criminals are smarter than them.
Global NGOs: Let's remind ourselves, do not allow ourselves to pay too much attention on the on-going issues of race, religion and other petty things to sidetrack us from the core concerns of corruption, cheating, the plundering of the nation's wealth, price increases, the murder of Altantuya Shaariibuu, etc.
Please keep these issues alive and mobilise the people.

May we remind you that PDRM does not have an independent life of its own but by virtue of the powers given by the rakyat. Your actions must reflect the wishes of all rakyat, including the minorities.
We pay you and PDRM to look after our security according to our wishes and not yours or PDRM’s. Remember, stupidity and dumbness are not hereditary. Please do not make them hereditary in PDRM.

He takes action irrespective of race, colour or creed, whether they are ruling party or not. He should be compassionate to the elderly, poor, hungry and marginalised.
