The National Unity and Integration Department (JPNIN) today proposed for a closed-door dialogue be held between the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and the Bible Society of Malaysia to find a solution to the 'kalimah Allah' issue.

JPNIN director-general Azman Amin Hassan said the issue should be tackled wisely through discussions to maintain the existing unity and harmony between the multi-religious people in the country, hence avoiding untoward incidents.

"We hope no quarters will take advantage of the issue to gain political mileage and continue provocating and playing with the sentiment as religious is a sensitive issue.

"If the two relevant quarters can focus and be sincere in solving the issue, we can actually have a good solution, but not by organising public rallies," he told reporters after opening the JPNIN's Mind Transformation Seminar and new year's assembly in Kota Bharu today.

In Shah Alam, Selangor Umno chief Noh Omar expressed disappointment over the failure of Menteri Besar Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in upholding his pledge to the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, to preserve and protect Islam in the state.

As such, he said Umno Selangor would launch a road show in the very near future to explain to the public about the issue and the recent bible seizure by Jais.
