A minister’s special officer and two others, including a businessman with a Datuk title, have been remanded to facilitate investigations into a corruption case.

In a statement today, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) said the three are being investigated in connection with a cleaning contract tender for a ministry.

However, MACC did not name those remanded.

The commission said that the special officer was arrested at a restaurant in Selangor by MACC officials.

“The three who are in their 30s and 40s were taken to the Putrajaya magistrate’s court this morning.

“Magistrate Nur Dahlia Azmi issued three-day and four-day remand orders respectively for all three suspects to be investigated,” said MACC.

It is learnt that the three comprise of two men and one woman.

The case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(B) and 17 (a) of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act.

If found guilty, a person can face up to 20 years in jail and a fine of RM10,000 or a sum five times the amount involved.
