YOURSAY ‘The timing says a lot about MBPJ’s intention.’

MBPJ explains visit to Bible Society HQ

Ksn: Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), are you saying that the visit by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) fanatics has affected the structure of the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) building?

The standard procedure should be to conduct inspections on all buildings periodically for safety. Is that not the right thing to do?

You did the wrong thing and then came out with unintelligent statements. What do you take Malaysians for?

Sin Lee Huang: Normally when the state government (or any authority) request for information, one will assume that one just send the information one already have on file. Without instruction from someone high up, the two poor officers would not had visited BSM.

Even if we accept that this is not to harass or intimidate BSM, then one have to point out MBPJ's incompetency in ensuring that they keep filed information up-to-date. And not to mention their insensitivity.

Oriole: When did the MBPJ become so conscientious? To fix a drain, it takes them two years. How did they suddenly become so efficient?

Unafraid: Clearly the intention is to harass and intimidate the BSM. The timing is far too ominous to be a routine check as is explained by MPPJ.

Such a stupid explanation is typical of the moronic explanations we have heard lately from the authorities, including losing firearms in the sea and forgetting to inform the MB of the well-planned and organised Jais raid.

Headhunter: Stop the nonsense. Why the sudden need to collect information on the BSM building? This is purely a harassment and a show of force. The timing says a lot about MBPJ’s intention.

DrumBeat: I had faith in PKR but many of my friends said PKR begins to behave like BN. With this religious episode, I can sense that there are huge differences within PKR and it will lead to disunity.

Now I begin to doubt if there is any hope of Malaysia becoming a truly democratic nation in the near future. Sad.

Rakyat-in-grief: It is now quite clear that Pakatan Rakyat has no power though they claim they are the Selangor state government.

First the Jais raid on BSM, where they claim to know nothing about it. Now this MBPJ's attempted raid. I think those who vote for them should be regretting now.

Antoine Ross Deliones: Politicians are just politicians. In some cases, voting is like choosing the least rotten apples from a box of apples that has started to rot.

And yes, some politicians may be fresh at the beginning but start to decay after they have a taste of power.

So, fellow citizens, place your trust not in any individual politician - for if you do, you are likely to be disappointed. I have suddenly become cynical after reading all the comments in Malaysiakini.

NH Gong: Remember, in a democracy the idiots govern the other idiots who voted them in the first place. There are simply too many idiots around, so what do the idiots expect?

Odin: MBPJ deputy mayor Puasa Md Taib, firstly, knowing that the office has just be raided and caused a controversy, anyone with some intelligence would have informed the people there before sending out his staff to do whatever is required.

Secondly, we are not talking of a common coffee shop or sundry goods shop here. What has happened shows that whoever it was in your council who has despatched men to check the office has a very low IQ.

Dark Knight: Despite whatever excuses, it seems to most that the Selangor state government is losing its control over state administrative and enforcement agencies.

Mohan53: Why is Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua apologising on behalf of others?

After all these years why choose to inspect BSM building now when Jais has created a mess? Are they doing it under instructions from the MB or Putrajaya?

Vijay47: I will accept the explanation and the apology in good faith. But please remember that the failure to give notice to BSM reflects the same stupidity as the Penang chief minister's new Mercedes.

Apa Ini: These are people who don't bother to check out the weather before they leave the house.

Tehachapi: Not only has Umno blindly, mindlessly and brutally pursued the purity of a single race, primacy of Islam, full blue-bloodedness of the royalties with no regard paid to the sentiments of non-Umno Malaysians, their feelings and legitimate rights.

Never mind that the economy is sinking fast and everything is in a constant state of chaos. So long as Umno occupies Putrajaya, life will only get harder and less tolerable for the rest of us.

One has to be a big fool to believe that there is any future for oneself and one's children if he or she is not currently already occupying a lucrative position within the Umno party to collect rents and other benefits.

Ever wonder why investors are leaving and people are emigrating from this country? Who will make the sacrifice if there is no tomorrow to dream and hope for.

Surely Malaysia is descending into the abyss of hopelessness. Like a terminally-ill patient, we pray for the end to arrive and for the pain to stop.
