Two senior Wisma Putra officials detained by MACC

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today detained two senior Foreign Ministry (Wisma Putra) officials to aid investigations into false claims amounting to US$126,000 (RM378,000) while they were attached to the Malaysian Embassy in Washington in 2011.

In a press statement here, the MACC said the two officers, in their 40s, were detained at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya at 3.30pm and were being investigated under the Anti-Money Laundering Act 2001 and Anti-Terrorism Financing Act 2001.
The statement said the duo were found to have made false claims for use of vehicles and logistical support during the Asia-Pacific Economic Conference in Hawaii in 2011.
