The prime minister must publicly distance himself from Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's backing of Umno's planned church protest, said DAP.

"As the prime minister, Najib Razak must do his best to ensure inter racial and inter religious harmony in the country," said DAP national vice chairperson Teresa Kok in a statement today.

She was commenting on the PM's continued silence over Selangor Umno's plans to protest the state's churches for using the word Allah to refer to god.

"The 10 point solution was a cabinet decision.  When the letter and spirit of a cabinet decision has been violated, silence is no longer an option for the prime minister.

"In this regard, he must also publicly disassociate from his deputy’s ridiculous and unbelievable nod to Selangor Umno’s plan to protest at all churches in Selangor..." she said.

"How could Muhyiddin, a deputy prime minister be so irresponsible?" said the Seputeh MP.

Jais this week raided the Bible Society Malaysia's premises without warning and confiscated over 300 copies of the Malay and Iban bible, detaining its two staff for over an hour.

Following public indignation over the raid, Selangor Umno called for rallies to protest churches, in particular in Klang.
