Perak mufti Harussani Zakaria’s latest statements seem to underline why Islam has such a bad name. He has zero common sense, just a rabid mouth. His comments beggar belief in the 21st century.
He called for the revocation of citizenship for those who protested against the government and the price hikes. How on earth can a Malaysian citizen, born and bred here, regardless of race, have his or her citizenship revoked? Where should they go?
How can anyone with such a warped and ignorant mind be allowed to speak on behalf of Islam? I am speechless.
Jeremy Ng: The mufti must be sacked and charged for inciting murder. He is unfit to preach the Islamic religion.
His calling to kill his fellow Muslims and non-Muslims who protested against rising prices indicate his ignorance of the Islamic teachings.
The Perak sultan, as head of the state Islamic faith in the state, must take action. His Royal Highness should not allow such person to lead the flock.
Ayush: Mandatory death penalty for 50,000 protesters? This is a massacre! It will go down into the Guinness Book of Record as the ‘best fatwa’ of the 21st century.
Ferdtan: Harussani, though the protesters at Dataran Merdeka are multi-racial but the majority of them are young brave Malay youths. So are you calling them to be ‘killed’?
Where is our eloquent Raja Muda of Perak who speaks on issues like on good governance and democracy? What is your view on your state mufti? Action speaks louder than words. Please show us your mettle.
Geronimo: Why must a religion like Islam be always be associated with violence? If it is truly a peaceful religion, than as a religious leader, this mufti should not be uttering such words at all, rightly or wrongly as the situation may be.
By using such words like 'killing', he is one who is contributing further to the entrenchment that Islam is a violent religion. Someone has better do something about this man before he steps out of line and endangers the lives of many people.

Like Ibrahim Ali, Ridhuan Tee Abdullah and the rest of the Umno running dogs, he belongs to the privileged group which is above the law. This is a prime example of selective prosecution on the part of PDRM (Royal Malaysian Police)

Anonymous #07688157: This person is akin to a chief priest in other religions. Being in a position where Muslims will look up to for religious guidance, he has issued such a statement to say it was ‘halal’ to kill people who have demonstrated because they are upset with the rising prices.
For God’s sake, they are expressing their frustration. What gives him the right to say the protesters should be killed.
He has issued a threat. Some protesters have since lodged a police report against him. But I’m not sure if the police will do anything at all.
CucuMalaysia: This is a disgrace to the religion he professed to embrace. Nor is he fit to wear the holy white cap. He should be immediately sacked and prosecuted for inciting violence under the Sedition Act.
I wonder how could Perak royal family appoint such a low-quality mufti? There is no better qualified person in the whole state of Perak?
And, not only has he one wife but a few wives! Well, maybe he has proven to be a ‘multi-talented’ mufti - one who can handle religion, politics, and polygamy equally well?

When people like this in Umno call for the killing of others, it is not seditious. Umno's PDRM is clearly a force serving Umno and nothing else.
Hearty Malaysian: Harussani is more of politician then mufti; no religion would encourage killing of the masses over their dissenting views.
The Perak mufti should be sacked by the powers-that-be. Can the Perak royal family act against this mufti for such a dangerous outburst?
A learned religious people is supposed to be compassionate and tolerant of any dissenting views. I doubt majority of Muslims would accept this mufti.
Ib: If there is any law on sedition, this is the time to apply it. Not applying it could be detrimental to BN's credibility as the leaders in Perak.
The Observer: Where lawlessness reigns, religious extremists can get away with murder, the desecration of other religion's places of worship and scriptures, and making seditious remarks.
It happens when a government refuses to govern but instead is a participant of tyranny.
