Selangor police will call in editor of Catholic weekly The Herald , father Lawrence Andrew, soon to record his statement over the use of the word ‘Allah’ in churches in Selangor.

According to Berita Harian Online , Selangor police chief Mohd Shukri Dahlan said they will also consult with the Selangor Islamic Council over Lawrence's claim that the word will continue to be used by churches in the state.

“The editor will be called soon to give his statement,” said the Selangor police chief in a press conference today.

Lawrence was quoted by a news portal as saying that it the word ‘Allah’ will be used in Catholic churches in Selangor in its weekend services in Bahasa Malaysia, as Article 11(3) (A) of the federal constitution prescribes that every religious group has its right to manage its own religious affairs.

“Our religion cannot be managed by any Muslim group. It is against the federal constitution. We will continue to use the word ‘Allah’ in our masses,” he was quoted as saying by the news portal The Malaysian Insider .
