Again they have misjudged us, the people of Broga-Semenyih.

Firstly, our no-incinerator campaign was labeled as a stunt orchestrated by the opposition parties to make the government look bad. Secondly, they went behind our back and proceeded with the project in the hope that we wouldn't find out. Last Saturday, they came over to tell us that the project is safe but they lacked the data to convince us. They were unprepared to listen. o­n the defensive, they wasted a valuable opportunity to really connect with the people.

They have failed to realise that the people are there to hear answers which can be backed by hard data. Talk alone is cheap. They must realise that the days of swaggering into a hall full of people and expect us to believe them and 'kow-tow' to them just because they are MPs are long over. If they continue treating people this way, the discontent will grow.

The way the deputy minister for the Housing and Local Government Ministry and Hulu Langat MP behaved at the Broga incinerator briefing was most embarrassing and unbecoming of elected representatives of the people. In order to discredit the questions posed by the Broga people, the deputy minister had to resort to accusing us of not being Semenyih or Broga residents. To them, we are trouble makers and o­nly there to incite the locals 'who have no problems with the project'.

Instead of demonstrating their intellectual capability and acting cool in the face of growing discontent, the Hulu Langat MP elected to behave like a common thug. Maybe thuggery is the o­nly skill they have.

Finally, please don't accuse the opposition parties of inciting us to make you look bad. You are quite good at it yourself.
