Dear Tan Sri,
As menteri besar of Selangor you seriously need to come to the ground to see if plans which you said would be implemented, are actually taking place in the state of Selangor. It is of no use to thump our chests to say that we have a lot of funds in the reserves when nothing is being done to improve the conditions of living in the most industrious, populous and richest state in the country, of which you are the elected chief executive.

I state this with a lot of regret because despite efforts being made to improve the services of the municipalities, a lot more has to be done when it comes to road works in and around the whole state. This is a very pertinent matter because the people experience it on a daily basis as they tread through the rigours of daily life.
When we can’t control the price of petrol, sugar and other necessities and services which is the total domain of the federal government, the least the state government can do is to ensure that we have good roads!
The roads in areas like Bandar Puteri, Taman Sri Andalas and Bandar Bukit Tinggi which come under the state constituencies of Sri Muda, Andalas and Port Klang have left a lot to be desired. Some of the roads are in conditions like what we see in certain parts of Central Africa and other regions where good roads are hard to come by.
Pothole after pothole is what greets the Selangorians every morning as we head for work and school. The bridge connecting the Kesas highway to Bandar Puteri in Klang is still under repair. The repair works started more than half a year ago and it is yet to be completed. The residents of Bandar Puteri have now got to go all the way to the Jalan Kebun Interchange and make a U-turn before coming into Bandar Puteri.
Dear YAB, it is of no use to pass the buck to the developers. Developers are only interested in profits and sales. If the state government is strict, work will automatically get done because they would eventually have to come back to you if they intend to buy land and do business in Selangor.
The problem seems to be the same thing that we Selangorians used to see when the BN was administrating the state. Instead of solving the problem and making life bearable for the people, all we hear is excuses and passing of the buck back and forth from developer to municipality. The people are exposed now and they want a government that listens and does. If you are running a government that has listened and is doing, then it must show this on the ground.
When roads are finally surfaced, another contractor comes up suddenly with all his machineries replacing pipes along all major roads in most of the housing estates in the areas that I mentioned earlier. Why can't this be co-ordinated well? What are your assemblypersons, presidents of municipalities and town concillors doing?
When the people are provided with good road infrastructure and driving and commuting in Selangor is easy, safe and good, it will automatically translate to support for your administration.
We can't determine the price of fuel but we can always provide good roads because as far as land in Selangor is concern, it is your administration which can call the shots.
If you have deputised the presidents of municipalities in Selangor to be your eyes and ears then I think their role has got to be re-assessed because on the ground with the exception of some assemblypersons who seem very concerned and active in their duties and responsibilities, the rest are still very much the same.
We want good roads and better public services
We changed a state government successfully for the first time in history in 2008 and we have given you a stronger mandate in 2013. All we would like to see is good roads and better public services being rendered to the people.
We are proud of your achievements as a good manager of the assets of the state and a very good and able financial controller of the state's funds but we would be more appreciative of your efforts if attention can be given to the roads in Selangor. I recently used the highway leading to Pulau Indah and I note that it has been resurfaced in certain stretches. This is what the people would like to see.
We would to see that in the whole of Selangor. First we accepted that your administration was a new administration but now it is a second term administration and it ought to know what the people of Selangor want. To offset the high cost of living and rising prices of necessities, it would be nice to have a clean and well-managed environment to come back home to in Selangor.
Whilst you have started the ‘Merakyatkan Ekonomi’ programmes by looking into the people's welfare which the people appreciate very much and are thankful for, attention must also be given to the state of road works and infrastructure in the state.
You must bear in mind that all the hawks and vultures from BN are mostly living in or having some property here in Selangor. If you can show them what it takes to govern with a stern and strong hand, they will quietly appreciate your leadership skills compared to those of the political barons who sit in Putrajaya and who knows, they, too, may support you and your administration when you go back to the people for their mandate.
Good roads are very essential to a progressive mindset. When the roads are in good condition, side tables are well taken cared of, the environment is kept clean and tidy, the people who use the roads will start and end the day well. The roads in the state wards of Sri Muda, Andalas and Port Klang must be attended to immediately. Bandar Puteri being a middle class neighbourhood which borders Taman Sentosa in Klang has very deplorable roads.
Nothing less than a complete re-tarring of the roads is needed on an urgent basis. The connecting road that connects the Kesas Highway to Bandar Puteri too needs your attention. The repair works has to be sped up to alleviate the long detour that the residents have to make.
Dear Tan Sri, we know that the governments of Penang and Selangor have saved up and are financially sound, you can give a minimum wage of RM1,500 to all Selangor government-linked company employees and the Penang chief minister is eligible as the chief executive for a new Mercedes Benz car but whilst the government is doing well, have you considered the plight of the people who gave you that mandate?
We don't want to see a repeat of what the BN pirates were doing before. We want to see a new government that walks the talk and puts its money where its mouth is.
The first thing that you should have done is to tidy up roads in Selangor be it a federal road or state road, as long as it is in Selangor, the state government should intervene and get it done because the people can't wait for another 50 years to see a new federal government in Putrajaya that will sink and swim with the respective state governments. Instead of raising the paycheques of your cabinet, you should see what the people of Selangor need done first!
If you fear that your cabinet members will be on the take then they don't deserve to serve in your cabinet. Yes, Singapore pays its ministers well so that they will not be tempted to be on the take but here since BN has shown the way and is a university in itself when it comes to the art of avoiding the anti-corruption net, you should take pains to be different. Why sully yourselves with the same ways in which the people hated the BN administration in the state before?
I would like to see some immediate steps being taken by your administration to go down to all the 56 wards under your state and get road infrastructure repaired and cleaned up. Please note that although there are 12 opposition wards, it would be wise to attend to their road woes as well. It will be a politically good decision if you decide to do so.
Please don't let it move at a snail's pace, we voted you in for a second term and we want quick responses from the state government, not further excuses and finger-pointing.
If we are steering towards atwo-party coalition government at federal and state levels of our parliamentary democracy, then the wise thing to do is to listen to the people. We want a good government and that is what we will keep pushing for till we get it. I see hope in you, please get your cabinet to come to the ground and sort out these problems.
