The Public Services Commission (PSC) has appointed 52,383 people to serve in the public sector from January to November this year.

Its chairperson Mahmood Adam said 34,112 had been absorbed as permanent staff while 18,271 were appointed as contract staff.

“PSD received more than two million applications for jobs in the public sector, and of the total, 219,137 were called for interviews.

“A total of 143,177 candidates turned up for interviews,” he told a media conference after a 2013 PSD Excellent Service Award in Putrajaya today.

A total 42 civil servants won awards and received Premium Savings Certificates worth RM1,000 and Excellent Service Award Certificates.

Meanwile, Mahmood said the result of candidates who succeeded in filling up 300 vacancies in the Administrative and Diplomatic Service (ADS) was scheduled to be announced via the PSD official website at www.spa.gov.my tonight.
