I refer to Arbibi Ashoy's letter, What the war has given Saddam.

According to the writer:

"Saddam is not budging because he is on the side of morality and righteousness. In the past he has been a dictator hated by his people. Now he has turned into his people's hero. His death will be that of a martyr.

"If he survives and is put on trial by the US, he will be a victim and not the embodiment of evil which the US makes him out to be. This war has turned Saddam into the champion of the Arab world, in the face of a Zionist financed war. There is no turning back for Saddam. Honour awaits him if he wins and lives. Paradise awaits if he dies and loses."

I am shocked and appalled by this Saddam-worshipping which is a form of idolatry forbidden in Islam and all other Abrahamic faiths. Above all, it shows that the writer has been dangerously infected by unthinking Iraqi propaganda which opportunistically mixes anti-nationalist Islam, fascist patriotism, anti-American hatred and jealousy-motivated terrorism.

If Saddam goes to paradise, does it mean that thousands of Kurds and Shiites massacred by Saddam's regime will have to be in hell? Surely, paradise cannot accommodate both Saddam and the victims of his atrocities and crimes against humanity, or there will be another 'Operation Iraqi Freedom' in heaven.
