The 60th MCA annual general assembly, which enters its second and final day today, began with delegates debating on the presidential address and resolutions followed by the winding-up speech.

    

A total of 18 debaters are scheduled to take the floor, including Youth and Wanita representatives, and top leaders, starting at 9am.  

    

The first two speakers King Lim Chin Fui (Teluk Kemang) and Ang Sui Eng (Taiping) reminded party members that they should end factionalism and help the newly-elected leaders to lead the party into a new era.  

The assembly was officially opened by Prime Minister Najib Razak yesterday.      

The chairperson of the assembly, speaker Yik Phooi Hong, began the morning session by introducing the top leadership new line-up, to thunderous applause from delegates.      

Yesterday, Liow Tiong Lai was elected the new MCA president after beating his two contenders at the party's presidential election.      

The deputy president's post went to Wee Ka Siong.      

In yesterday's polls, 2,385 delegates also voted in the four vice-presidents and 25 central committee members.
