I refer to KL Vew's letter. It is indeed an eye opener to note this Malaysian's paranoia over Singapore. Just because Singapore does not concur with Malaysia's views, does it mean that there will be war between the two countries?

If anything, the talk of war always comes from Malaysian politicians and the media. If being politically aligned with a certain countries makes o­ne an outpost, then what should Singapore make of Malaysia's association with the OIC?

Will Singapore be labeled as infidels and deemed justifiable targets? If Singapore spent as many billions as Malaysia has in the past couple of years to purchase weapons, I'll bet the Malaysian media and politicians will ask citizens to prepare for an impending attack from Singapore.

I am constantly amazed that no o­ne made any protest when Iraqi President Saddam Hussein gassed the Muslim Kurds, while attempts to bring freedom to the majority of Iraqis is met with such anger.

Finally, while war is never preferred, it is at times necessary. Ask the French if they would have preferred it if Hitler took his time in disarming, or if the thousands of allied troops who died liberating France, were unnecessary.
