The Selangor DAP election today was a tame affair but was suddenly jolted with a slight drama when sacked member Jenice Lee again attempted to gatecrash the party's convention.

Clad in a white blouse and black skirt, Lee tried to enter the convention venue in Shah Alam today, but was turned away.

She then attempted to register as an observer but was refused as well.

"Why will you not let me in? I don't have any weapons," Lee argued, after which she approached incumbent Selangor DAP secretary Ean Yong Hian Wah to be let in, but he refused her.

Lee was also upset that her name had been erased from the minutes of last  year’s Selangor DAP convention.

"We were classmates... how can you remove my name?" she asked Ean Yong, who declined to reply. Lee later left the place.

Queried by reporters later, Ean Yong (left in the picture) said it was a normal practice for the party to remove the names of sacked members from its commitee line-up.

Several other Selangor DAP leaders later also jumped into action, with incumbent committee member Gobind Singh Doe holding a press conference to explain the the barring of Lee from the conference.

"There was already a decision by the disciplinary committee to revoke Lee's membership. She appealed to the central executive committee, but it upheld the expulsion on Nov 28.

"Lee then applied to the High Court in Kuala Lumpur for an injunction on her sacking, pending a suit, but the order was not granted.

"So, as far as we are concerned, the decision of the disciplinary committee to expel her stays," Gobind, the MP for Puchong, added.

Lee, once a rising star in the DAP, was sacked for contesting against her own party in the last general election after being dropped as Teratai assemblyperson.

'Only for members and invited observers'

Gobind said the convention was only for DAP members, invited observers and members of the media and Lee was not any of them.

However, the drama did not end there. One of when Lee's supporters, Taman Mudah DAP branch delegate Khoo Kian Seng, raised Lee’s expulsion during the convention proceedings.

Later, outgoing Selangor DAP chief Teresa Kok addressed delegates on the matter and urged Lee to move on from here.

"I sympathise with her, but it is a tough decision for the leadership to decide who can contest in the election in every general election.

"In Selangor, 11 former state assemblypersons were dropped, including me in Kinrara. I understand her feelings, but it was a painful decision and it is time for us and for Lee to move on.

"I think it would be better for us to stay as friends than to engage in public quarrels," Kok said.
