Home Ministry: Mat Sabu made Shiite invocation

your say, YoursayKit P: It is ridiculous that the Home Ministry secretary-general, a public servant, has got himself involved in a politically-motivated attack on a person who just happens to be a BN critic.

The only fact I can get from his "evidence" is that PAS deputy president Mohamad ‘Mat' Sabu admires Ayatollah Khomeini. Quoting from a blogger on alleged Shiite religious practice by Mat Sabu hardly counts as evidence, and it is unbecoming of a ministry's secretary-general to spread such innuendo.

If the secretary-general is of such low quality, it is no wonder the rest of the Home Ministry is inefficient, ineffective and corrupt.

It's because the party that claims to defend the Malay race continues to display dishonesty, stupidity and arrogance each day. Can we find some other party please that does not embarrass the race and can make us proud?

I say this because I remember that in about 1987 Mat Sabu actually walked in front of a church. This was told to me by my neighbour's brother's sister's gardener's brother.

Najib paid homage to the Pope. Does that make him a Christian? All the charges read out by ministry sounds very silly and childish. Don't insult the people's intelligence.

Ferdtan: There was an assault suit against Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi filed by a businessman, Amir Bazli Abdullah. Karpal Singh is his lawyer and on Dec 5, his client did not appear in Shah Alam court. He disappeared without a trace.

The DAP chairperson has now enlisted the help of PAS deputy president Mohamed Sabu in the search for the businessman. So now do we see the connection why the minister is so fixated on Mat Sabu?

Using his powerful position as a home minister, he possibly thinks that such threats would make Mat Sabu afraid to get involved. Obviously he got the wrong person - certainly not the indomitable Mat Sabu.

Pemerhati: These idiotic Umno politicians are telling the Malays that they should only follow Sunni Islam and it is illegal to follow Shiite Islam.

Many people who believe in religion such as the Christians, just like the Muslims, have various denominations such as Catholics, Protestants, etc.

In the 21st century, unlike in Malaysia, we have not heard of any democratic country in the world where the ruling government says that only one version of the religion can be practiced and anyone practicing a different version would be prosecuted.

The Malaysian constitution says that there is freedom of religion in the country. Hence Umno's actions to persecute and prosecute the local Shiites are unconstitutional, they make the country a laughing stock in the world.

They antagonise the countries like Iran and Iraq where the majority of the Muslims are Shiites and the millions of Shiites around the world and all the democratic countries in the world will be amazed at Malaysia's narrow mindedness and stupidity.

Chipmunk: The total trade between Malaysia and Iran last year hit US$1.5 billion (RM4.8 billion) in favour of Malaysia.

Also there were about 80,000 Iranians in Malaysia, including 15,000 students who were studying in local universities.

So what is the home minister going to do with all the Iranians in Malaysia? Why not send them back since they are from a country practicing Shiitism.

Geronimo: Every year I go to a warehouse in Balakong for its annual event. Surprisingly, the number of Iranians mingling around with the locals patronising the sales were unbelievably sizeable.

Isn't Umno Baru afraid that these same Iranians will proselytise to the local Malay customers present there?

Unspin: Considering that Muslims in Umno are easily confused, presumably Shiite Muslims in Malaysia are also not allowed to use the word 'Allah'. Otherwise, it might influence the Sunnis to convert to Shiism.
