I agree with Lim Kit Siang that the governments media blackout o­n the dengue outbreak is irresponsible and wrong. There should be a nationwide campaign to rid Malaysia of this disease if not control it. There should be television public service announcements o­n how to keep o­ne's garden clean like in the 70s. There should be more law enforcement officers visiting homes to fine homeowners who have mosquito lava in their gardens. The law enforcement officers should raid abandon housing projects and apartment blocks which is a breeding ground for aedes mosquitoes.

In Subang where I live there are at least half a dozen abandon projects. These projects are no doubt eye sores but o­n top of that they are perfect breeding grounds for the aedes mosquitoes. The MPSJ should enter these sites and if mosquitoes are found, the developers or owner should be fined heftily.

It is no longer a funny matter, it is in fact very irritating that the problem exists and the government turns a blind eye, probably hoping that the problem would disappear by itself.

The government is elected to protect the people. When people die and lives threatened, the government should act, and act quickly.
