I cannot help but feel the strain o­n Transitions columnist Oon Yeoh taking o­n the mob of attacks from those who do not share his views o­n the Iraqi issue.

There is no need to call him names (hypocrite) or so much as heave your personal attacks as I believe he is merely voicing his stand and doing a pretty good job at that too. At the very least, he has meted out some very convincing arguments o­n why the war o­n Iraq is a necessary evil.

We are all for peace and harmony to the world, but alas no o­ne has shown a concrete alternative solution. We can all put markers o­n boards and keep chanting peace all day long but that changes nothing. The people of Iraq will continue to be suppressed and tortured by Saddam and his regime until a plan of action takes place to free them.

I draw a comparison to World War II where the A-bombs were dropped in Japan. Many lives were lost that day? Where were the anti-American and anti-war slogans? Many will contend that American intervention that day had saved more lives than those that were lost. The war ended because someone decided to do something.

At the very least leaders like Bush and Blair are rising to the occasion and bringing action to something I believe is long overdue. Apart from a lot of idle talk and No Action Meetings (NAM), I do not see any world leaders propose a better or an alternative solution other than war.

Unless someone comes up with a better idea, I believe this war is imminent and if that is to be, I also believe it is wiser for the rest of the world to make sure that America lives up to its promises of nation re-building for the people of Iraq.
