A proposal to make the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission an independent body, like the Election Commission, is currently under study, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Razali Ibrahim said today.

He said the proposal, which would involve the amendment of related laws, would be brought to the Dewan Rakyat.
"The government expects two-thirds consensus from all, before being able to set up a body that will seem more transparent.
"The measure also proves the government is serious in tackling corruption," Razali said in the Dewan Rakyat here today, when replying to a supplementary question from Takiyuddin Hassan (PAS-Kota Baru, above).
He said the people's hatred for corruption had led to a campaign to eradicate graft that has also been inculcated in the school syllabus and at university level.
