The Sarawak state assembly sitting today was told that the second ferry service at Batang Lassa, Daro had only been given approval to operate during the festive seasons.
State Infrastructural Development and Communications Assistant Minister Lee Kim Shin said currently only one ferry service was operating in the area while the government received a proposal for the second ferry last year.
“The second ferry will only operate during the Chinese New Year, Gawai Dayak, Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Christmas. The additional ferry provides services from 6am until midnight for 14 days during the festive seasons,” he said when replying to Abdullah Saidol (BN-Semop).
Meanwhile, Lee who is also the Sports Assistant Minister, said the Community Development Ministry had announced that a RM13 million Mini Sports Complex at Engkilili had been proposed under the 10th Malaysia Plan but this had been rejected.
He disclosed this when replying to a question from Dr Johnical Rayong Ngipa (BN-Engkilili) who wanted to know when the government would build a sports complex in the Engkilili state constituency.
