I want to congratulate malaysiakini for standing up for their principles.

As for complaints about the different treatments given to police reports and the official replies, many of my friends and I have long come to the conclusion that there is very little integrity, dignity, and very few principles left in this country. It is a sad thing to say but true.

People lying through their teeth, saying o­ne thing in newspapers to make them look good but actually practising just the opposite. Bullying, I see plenty of it - and abuse of power. Have you heard any politician stressing integrity and sincerity as a way of life in the last few decades? It is just sad that our country has degenerated to this level, just concerned about material things.

What do we teach our children and what examples do we set for them? When will we ever see a politician of great and magnanimous stature who will stand up and say "Enough of this nonsense; we must live dignified and exemplary lives. We must make fairness, truth and integrity all-pervading principles in our lives."

Until we do that, we are wallowing in mud and slime no matter what position we hold in society. Something has gone wrong radically with our society and with the way we pursue worthy and honourable goals in life. People do not know how low they have sunk.
