Former Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) information chief Johnny Mositun has been appointed as the new party secretary-general, replacing Henrynus Amin.
PBS president Joseph Pairin Kitingan in announcing this today, also said that former Kadamaian assemblyperson Herbert Timbun Lagadan was appointed at the new assistant secretary-general.
“For the other posts, those appointed are Linda Tsen as the treasurer-general, Joachim Gunsalam (assistant treasurer-general), Jahid Jahim (information chief) and Bernard Maraat (information assistant chief),” he told a news conferenc in conjunction with the presentation of the letters of appointment for the posts in Kota Kinabalu today.
Pairin, who is also Sabah Deputy Chief Minister, expressed confidence that the new leadership line-up would be able to strengthen the party and ensure it remained relevant with the times.
“I believe the new faces appointed have a new spirit and are raring to do their best in the interest of the party,” he said.
Meanwhile, Johnny (right) said he felt honoured being given the new responsibility and would use his experience in the party to do a good job.
Jahid, a former party Youth leader, said he would endeavour to improve the party’s image and help make the party philosophy attractive to the people, especially the younger generation.
He said he would also work with the print and electronic media in countering the opposition’s disinformation spread through the social media.
At the PBS supreme council elections recently, Pairin won the president post unopposed while Dr Maximus Ongkili and Dr Yee Moh Chai retained the deputy president posts for the non-Muslim bumiputera and Chinese quota respectively.
