It is easy for Umno Youth leader (Federal Territory) Haidir Sheikh Fadzir to brush aside Harakahdaily's poll on Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad's departure as an attempt by PAS to divert attention from its own internal problems.

At least PAS has conducted a poll. The people who voted were not only PAS members, but also other visitors to Harakahdaily site. The poll results show what they think about the issue. Haidir's contention is unsubstantiated.

Firstly, PAS has no internal conflicts except for those fabricated by Umno leaders such as Haidir to the media to discredit PAS. Even if there is a problem, it is not as serious as those in Umno or other Barisan Nasional parties such as MCA or the now-defunct Sarawak-based Snap.

Secondly, the proposal that there will be a power struggle in Umno after Mahathir's departure has been discussed at length by political analysts.

Thus, I suggest Haidir proposes that Umno conducts a similar poll on their web site to gauge their members' view on the issue. At least then Haidir can confidently use the poll results to back his statements.
