PAS stopped Chinese from voting, claims Gerakan

In a press release yesterday, Cheah (left) claimed that “thousands” of voters were caught in traffic jams because of PAS supporters canvassing for votes in front of polling centres.
“Thousands of PAS supporters were screaming and shouting on the streets in cars and motorcycles, causing major traffic jams along the way to polling station.
“As a result, hundreds Chinese voters were stuck on the streets for hours and they failed to make it to vote in time, it was a shame,” said Cheah, who is also Kedah Gerakan chief.
He suspected that the traffic congestion was deliberately planned by PAS to stop Chinese voters, allegedly because the party had known it was losing Chinese support.
On Wednesday, Cheah was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying that BN’s support among Sungai Limau’s Chinese voters had dropped by between 60 to 70 percent.
He claimed that BN was able to win in three Chinese-majority voting districts - Sungai Limau, Kabu 10 and Simpang Tiga - which were won by PAS in the 13th general election.
In his press release yesterday, Cheah thanked the Chinese voters in Sungai Limau, adding that their support for BN shows that not all Chinese are against the government.
He claimed that Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir was “very impressed” with the “strong encouragement and support” shown by the Chinese voters.
“The menteri besar personally assured me that he will fulfill the promises he made to the Chinese voters during the by-election,” he said.
