The Star report "Wong: Lim behaving like a loose cannon" (Dec 15) quotes Penang MCA chairperson Wong Kam Hoong as expressing sadness that "the DAP appeared to have obtained information including details of the project's alignment and the number of houses to be demolished while the Barisan representatives did not even get a proper briefing at that time".

Was he admitting to the fact that Barisan Nasional representatives always take it that their source of information for communal activities shall only be through "officially sanctioned briefings"? Alternatively, that BN representatives were bound to act only from information "officially sanctioned"? In other words, BN representatives are not bound to act on information that has not previously properly "sanitised".

Is he also suggesting that the DAP may have breached the Official Secrets Act if indeed they had more information than was released through "proper briefings"?

Indeed, this Porr mess is an eye-opener to Malaysians on how the BN machinery works. The cannons are firing away from and at all directions with a deadly silence because none of the parties dares address the real issues (except for the DAP and readers of malaysiakini).

One is also amazed that Umno, which had set a precedence only earlier this year when its representatives abstained from voting against the PAS motion in the Terengganu legislative assembly, had called for the sacking of the two MCA members for not voting against DAP's motion on Porr in the Penang legislative assembly. It is indeed a clear example of the pot calling the kettle black.
