Don't these numbskulls ever check with their embassy in Malaysia as to the goings on in the land of endless problems?

Malaysian defence of rights record met with sarcasm

Apacerita: I think the United Nations has failed in monitoring human rights and the performance of all the countries. This is because, as they all know, most countries will paint a good picture of their own performance.

No government is so stupid to say bad and detrimental things about their own country. And even if they found them cheating in their report, what can and will the UN do? Penalise them or force them to change?

Fair&Just: While all the various government agencies and institutions are headed and governed exclusively by Malays, why is it that this delegation to the UN is headed by a minority race, a Chinese woman?

Chipmunk: This is a complete whitewash or in layman's terms 'bullshit'. Unless the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) panel comes personally to see what is happening in Malaysia, the government will continue to whitewash its image in the UN.

Look at the recent crimes, especially murders, the security of this nation has gone to the dogs. BN wants to look good only in the eyes of the public and continue to lie to survive.

Fair Play: It is just wasting time and money bringing matters to the UN for resolution. The last sentence of the article says as much 'Malaysia has the sovereign right to accept or reject any of the recommendations'.

Fair&Just: I guess those bigots can talk about rights to reject or accept the UN recommendations, while those poor suppressed, oppressed, discriminated and deprived souls in Bolehland's right to remedy is to depend on divine intervention only, and we pray that god will really, really reward and punish expeditiously.

JBond: The UN is a big talk shop session that will not have any impact on the crooks in Putrajaya, be it positive or negative. What a waste of time giving all these civil servants a holiday in Geneva.

Prisons Dept confirms Uthaya held in solitary as punishment

Damntlwbn: Why should Hindraf leader P Uthayakumar receive solitary confinement? Did he create a riot in the prison? What grounds do they have to put him there?

My gosh, even the hardcore criminals do not receive such harsh punishment. My heart goes out to Uthayakumar and his family, especially his wife.

Thinkingmachine: If we are really practising the tenets of Islam in Malaysia, then how come we are so inhumane and exhibit no regard for human life? Putting a person in solitary confinement is like burying him alive in a hole.

I call upon Deputy Home Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar to spend a month in solitary confinement and then appear before the Parliament to say how he felt.

I think political prisoners should not be treated like criminals. The Prisons Department needs to rewrite their SOP. I understand that Uthaya is a man of pride and doing this to him is not right.

Malaccan: Before there is any punishment for Uthaya, there should be an inquiry. Having internal inquiries by the people dishing out the punishment is not natural justice. Even prisoners have rights. Even prison has a need to be fair.

Kadaram: Uthayakumar is not a criminal, he deserves better treatment. He is in prison because of his Hindraf struggles, which is a rightful deed as per human rights but otherwise a crime to a government that doesn't know the meaning of human rights.

Toonarmy: Only in Bolehland can we have a Malaysian of Indian origin who is in solitary confinement for sedition, and someone who had murdered a Mongolian national and one who stole RM500 million from the rakyat in 'commission' remain free and a menace to the country.
