I refer to the report KL deputy fire chief slapped with six show-cause letters.

Let me express my indignation on seeing a brave whistle-blower apparently being victimised. As a citizen of Malaysia, I demand an intelligent answer to the question why he is given a show-cause letter but none is issued to the fire chief. To intelligent Malaysians, this appears like another "Ezam-like treatment" for a national ailment.

Instead of standing by quietly, we the public are better off saying "Enough is enough!" I would like to call all fair-minded Malaysians to join me in rallying around this brave man and ask the government to hold a public inquiry. If there is no public inquiry, the public can only read between the lines and the conclusion is not very pretty.

Please write letters of protest to the Fire and Rescue Department on the show-cause letters. Please send letters of complaint to the Prime Minister's Department on this matter. We are told that the Anti-Corruption Agency has started an investigation. Does the fact that Mohd Ali has been given show-cause letters by his department mean that the ACA has concluded that the fire chief did no wrong?

That our authorities are not held accountable for their actions is turning our society into a sick one; their misdeeds are as evil as terrorism and robbing our children of a healthy environment to live in.
