YOURSAY 'Shahrizat's victory speaks volumes about the moral standards of Wanita Umno who voted her.'

Zuraida: Is Umno Wanita okaying more scandals?

your say, YoursayOdin: PKR Wanita chief Zuraida Kamaruddin, thieves, robbers, liars, swindlers and bigots will always choose from among them the most rotten to lead them.

In choosing the worst, they are sending no signals whatsoever, because to them, thieving, robbing, lying, swindling and being prejudicious are right and proper.

Kingfisher: Shahrizat Abdul Jalil's election will be considered a disadvantage, if not a failure in strengthening the legitimacy of Umno both as pre-eminent party in BN and the predominant member in the current administration, by many of us who still continue to hope and wish for Umno to change and become a more responsible lead party.

Let us hope that this poor showing by Wanita Umno for ethical standards in leadership is not aggravated by an equally unwelcome move by the PM to make her a government minister without a legitimate electoral constituency.

This bold statement of Wanita Umno regarding their own benchmarks for ethical standards may not hereafter have ready acceptance by the general Malaysian electorate. Let us not forget the fate of the PM's candidate for the Shah Alam parliamentary constituency in the last election.

Wiser: Zuraida, in Malaysia, it is a norm to be corrupt. The politicians, police, government servants, the judiciary, etc - from top to bottom in all sectors.

All Malaysians know it. Receiving easy monies by corrupt practices or by ‘legalised' NEP, BEE, BR1M, is encouraged. The thinking is everybody is doing it, so don't be a fool, join them.

Can opposition really turn us around? Can you look into the mirror and really be clean and lead a clean government if elected?

The thinking among many Malaysians is it will be the same with opposition, so don't even bother trying to change the government. Just enjoy the ride. Don't rock the boat. There is plenty for everyone.

Why worry about tomorrow? Why worry about next generation? Enjoy, take, live! So how are you going to beat that, Zuraida?

SS Dhaliwal: Umno is party devoid of any patriotism, integrity or decency where anyone who joins it is hoping to hop on the gravy train.

There is no place in it for anyone who is honest as you will be ousted by the people in it who will see you as a threat to their corrupt ambitions.

Sleepy: I believe the Malays and maybe the Indians have to realise that slowly but surely they will be the eventual losers.

They collectively do not have the required skills (education and knowledge) unlike the Chinese and eventually will not have any money (resources and wealth).

Realise that education and wealth will be in the hands of a few. Realise, before it's too late, religion and race is only a decoy, the real issue is the education, skills, resources and wealth of the country, the noose is getting tighter. Stand up for your rights before it's too late.

Mushiro: Tell me which leader in Umno is not corrupted? The higher they are, the more corrupted they become. Birds of the same feather flock together and they protect one another.

In victory, Shahrizat now immune to NFC saga

Paul Warren: Shahrizat's victory speaks volumes about the moral standards of Wanita Umno who voted her. Obviously everything she has claimed regarding the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) affair is acceptable and believable to them.

Alternatively, and most probably, if she had indeed benefitted from NFC and they too believe it, it suggests that it is acceptable to them. What's wrong with that? They don't see any improprieties and inappropriateness in it. Now, that is scary to me.

Doc: With Shahrizat's overwhelming victory at the Wanita Umno polls, the women of Umno have spoken out and telling all Malaysians that corruption and nepotism is an accepted way of life in Umno politics.

Pondering Why: We as a nation have to endure such abuse of power. The corrupt in the civil services who collaborate with these tainted so-called leaders are definitely not worth their salt in abusing the trust of their paymasters, i.e. the taxpayers who pay their wages.

I feel so disgusted to see this endless saga continuing at the very expense of the people. The corrupt has no sense of guilt or remorse for all their wrongdoings and shameless hypocrisy.

No Fool: What type political party is Umno which is so undemocratic and abnormal? Are they so short of talent that the president and deputy president post are not contested and tainted leaders can be re-elected?

Onyourtoes: I found Shahrizat's victory parallel with that of CSL (Chua Soi Lek) of MCA. Women in Umno are nincompoops and you are leading them to oblivion just like CSL did in MCA.

Her victory is the doing of PM Najib Razak. He wants people with tainted past to be with him. Easier to lead and ‘kowtim'.

Geronimo: MCA voted a tainted leader like CSL to be president, and now Wanita Umno Baru voted a tainted leader like Shahrizat to head the wing.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief Abu Kassim Mohamed was right about stupidity.
