The partial collapse of the Bandar Darulaman Industrial Complex in Jitra was captured on video and uploaded to video sharing website Youtube.

According to the description of the video, the clip was recorded by one Mirol Zizie.

The minute long dramatic video began with with loud cracking noises followed by visible cracks racing through a portion of the perimeter wall before the eventual collapse.

According to various news reports, the incident happened between 8.30am to 8.45am. No injuries were reported.

The building, which began operations in July, is located in an industrial area and houses the Borong C-mart Supermarket.

According to Bernama, a maintenance worker Abdul Rohim Talib, 33, said he entered the building with a friend to open the office and turn on the lights at 8.30am.

He said he heard a cracking sound before he saw the ceiling about five metres from where he stood collapsing.

"We dashed out quickly through the nearest door to save ourselves. From outside, I saw part of the wall also collapsing," he told reporters at the scene of the incident in Jitra today.

Meanwhile, Kubang Pasu District Council president Zahari Ismail said the building had been ordered closed as it was deemed unsafe.

He said the owner of the building prior to this had obtained permission to build a factory but had instead constructed a commercial building.

He said the council would take legal action against the owner for breaching the conditions stipulated by the council.
