MCA raps Mukhriz for 'BN voters first' stand

And now the tremors are being felt in Kedah as well, where former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s son, Mukhriz, is the chief minister.
Mukhriz had remarked that the state government’s priority was to assist the community which supported BN government.
Irked by this, MCA leader Loh Seng Kok (left) reminded Mahathir’s son that his view was not only obsolete, it also would be construed as “treatment according to racial lines.”
He said the menteri besar’s remark ran contrary to the BN spirit.
“BN needs retrospection and to review circumstances that led to its dismal outing in the 13th general election (GE) rather than fault a particular community.
“Although Mukhriz might claim the state government’s reaction on Chinese schools is not retaliation but to prioritise ‘gratitude’ to the community which voted BN, Mukhriz as the menteri besar should safeguard the interest of all Kedahans regardless of race, steering everyone towards progress and success,” he added.
In a democracy, the MCA central committee member said, the services of a menteri besar should be people-oriented.
“Do not dwell on GE results. Repair and reduce any racial rifts. These are positive aspects of a magnanimous national leader, who will regain the rakyat’s support.
“Consequent to the GE results, the rakyat’s vote and support does not remain static.
“A national leader should treat all school streams and people justly irrespective of background, and implement BN’s principles in order to win the rakyat’s support and appreciation,” he added.
Previously, Mukhriz had come under fire from DAP vice-chairperson Teresa Kok (right), who accused the former of backtracking on his “Dare to Change” slogan.
"It is clear Mukhriz is punishing the Chinese community in Kedah for not supporting him or BN," she had said.
On Sept 24, Mukhriz reportedly said the state government would not entertain any requests from Chinese schools in Kedah.
Pointing out that the Malays are the majority in Kedah, the menteri besar said he could not neglect those who supported the BN government.
