The police yesterday obtained an extension to a remand order for three National Service Training Programme trainees of the Pinggiran Pelangi Camp in Muadzam Shah to facilitate investigations into the death of a trainee in the camp recently.

The remand order was issued by magistrate Mohamed Ruhizat Abdullah, upon expiry of the seven-day remand order.

According to Rompin police chief DSP Johari Jahaya, the three trainees, all aged 18, were held last week to assist in the investigation into the death of Muhammad Suhaimi Norhamidi, also 18, on Sept 23.

He said three other male trainees, aged between 18 and 22, were detained on Sunday, adding that the police obtained a remand order for them until Oct 7.

According to initial reports, a post-mortem by the Muadzam Shah Hospital revealed that Muhammad Suhaimi died of internal bleeding in the head, caused by a blow from a blunt object.
