Nominations for MIC divisional elections gets under way

The nomination process for MIC’s divisional level elections began today involving the states of Kedah, Penang, Negri Sembilan, Malacca, Terengganu and Kelantan.

MIC secretary-general A Sakthivel said for Johor, Perak, Pahang and Sabah, nominations will be held tomorrow while that for Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perlis and Labuan, will be Sunday.
“The time period for the nomination process is from 4pm to 6pm at the offices of the respective divisions,” he told Bernama in Kuala Lumpur today.
He said up for grabs were divisional head posts, deputy heads, vice-heads, slots to be delegates at MIC’s national congress and two auditors' posts (for each division).
“We expect keen contests this time around,” he added.
The polls are being handled by a special committe of MIC’s central working committee.
The party has 156 divisions. Polling for the divisions has been scheduled for the Oct 6 to 9 period.
