Bernama reports that Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar says the Philippine government should apologise to Malaysia for its "rash action" over the allegation by a 13-year-old girl (initially thought to be Filipina) that she was raped while being held at a temporary detention depot in Sabah.

If anyone should apologise, it should be the Malaysian government, for deporting one of its own citizens. And if anyone should receive an apology, it should be the girl in question.

Syed Hamid says that "the natural thing without us asking is for them to [say] sorry, we have made a mistake". That seems like good advice for him to take as well.
