Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar today warned all quarters not to ever try to revive the communist ideology in this country.

He also warned the public including members of political parties not to make statements or comments that glorify the Communist Party of Malaya (CPM), otherwise they would face stern action from the authorities.

Khalid gave the warning when met by reporters after chairing the National Blue Ocean Strategy High-Level Meeting 8: Joint Communication of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and Royal Malaysian Police at the Defence Ministry in Kuala Lumpur today.

Also present was MAF chief, General Zulkifeli Mohd Zin.

Khalid was asked to comment on the detention of a local man with a Datuk Seri title and a Hong Kong national at the Penang International Airport last night for having in their possession, books, souvenirs and DVDs on communism and former CPM leader Chin Peng.

Earlier, upon inspection of their luggage, police found 13 books on communism, 11 Chin Peng memorabilia items and eight DVDs on him, besides pictures of the late Chin Peng.

Khalid said police would take stern action against anyone trying to bring into this country, items aimed at reviving the communist struggle or ideology.

“Last night, we seized the items (found on the two men) and we will think of further action that can be taken against them,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zulkifeli said attempts to revive the communist ideology could  threaten national security if these were not stemmed early.

“I am worried and concerned about the possible threat of militancy in future if they fail in their struggle to promote communism, hence resorting to militancy,” he said.
