Jambun denies he will join Parti Cinta Sabah

Daniel Jambun, the former deputy of head of the Sabah chapter of Sarawak-based State Reform Party (Star), has denied that he will be joining the newly-registered Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).
Daniel Jambun, the former deputy of head of the Sabah chapter of Sarawak-based State Reform Party (Star), has denied that he will be joining the newly-registered Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS).
In a statement to Malaysiakini, Jambun said: "I am no longer with Star and have no intention to join Parti Cinta Sabah.
"I am the chairperson of UK-based Borneo's Plight Foundation in Malaysia (Bopim) a human rights NGO.
"Kindly run my statement denying the Star Sabah story in Malaysiakini, which was attributed to me," he said.
Jambun (left), who was one of the five deputies in Star Sabah, was dropped from the party's new line-up soon after the May 2013 general election.
Since then, he left Star Sabah and concentrated on his London-based Bopim, which seeks to "restore the sovereignty of Sabah as nation".
The other deputies dropped were Awang Ahmad Sah Awang Sahari, Paul Voon, Dr Nicholas James Guntobon and Jacob Sadang Chang.
Star Sabah chairperson Jeffrey Kitingan appointed a new line-up in an effort to overhaul the party following its bad performance in the May 2013 general election.
Star Sabah had hoped to win at least 15 state seats but won only one, the seat of Bingkor through Jeffrey. The thrashing the party saw shocked not only the leaders but the rank-and-file as well.
On Sept 13, The Star Online reported that Jeffrey was expected to abandon Star Sabah and take over Parti Cinta Malaysia.
"Yes we will be moving into Cinta," he was quoted as saying.
Jeffrey is expected to join PCS at the end of this year, after consulting with his counterparts in Sarawak. His reason is that only Sarawakians can become members of Star.
A move to amend the constitution of Star was recently rejected by the Registrar of Societies.
