'Non-expert' paid RM20mil to draft Education Blueprint

your sayAbasir: After 56 years of independence, after sending tens of thousands overseas on taxpayer-funded scholarships for bachelors, masters and PhD degrees, after having spent millions of ringgit and compiled thousands of pages of education reports and reports on reports, after vice-chancellors declaring their universities as world class, after every education minister being promoted to prime minister (ostensibly for their brilliant achievements), the regime has no compunction paying consultants RM20 million to write an education blueprint.

That cost does not include the millions paid every month to all the fellows sitting around looking important in the Education Ministry.

Malaysians should remember the instant 'experts' and consultants who sprouted all over the place during the now aborted, multi-billion ringgit smart schools spend-fest between 1997 and 2000.

This has been Umno's trademark and consultants like McKinsey and Company, F & S, Accenture, etc, know how to impress the halfwits in the civil service, lead them by their nose, and collect fat cheques as quickly as you can say "ETP".

The grip of these 'know-all' consultants on the necks of our decision makers was revealed when the chairman of global consulting firm Frost & Sullivan handed an award to Khazanah Nasional, witnessed by Premier Najib Abdul Razak in San Francisco this week.

Some corrupted idiots in the government might be spending millions pretending to solve the issue but it will not work until they solve the root cause, which goes back to race.

There is no hope for Malaysia to get to the next level until everyone is treated equally. We don't need a rocket scientist to tell the cause of education problems in Malaysia.

Peacemaker: I would have hired a coterie of retired Malaysian educationists who have a feel for our children and an eye on international benchmarks.

Their sole qualification should be that they are not politically linked or leashed. Serdang MP Ong Kian Ming obviously doesn't know the innards of the education apparatchik.

Consultants are almost never chosen for their expertise, more for their "marketing finesse" (Read: ability to pull an impressive fast one over the client). Next qualification is they must "know" somebody high up in the ministry who is willing to 'negotiate' terms.

The final report and its ramifications are the least of their concerns. So we should all be unsurprised if the proposals turn out to be irrelevant and utter rubbish but our children and teachers will be saddled with it.

Changeagent: I praise Ong Kian Ming and the opposition for revealing this. Without them the public would never know the kind of nonsense the government gets into.

Louis: Singapore has one of the highest standards of education in the world. If our government is sincere in upgrading our education, just get the service of their experts who might already have retired.

I am sure they are willing to advise us. Of course we must pay them, but not to the extent of RM20 million.

Ksn: What do our 1.2 million civil servants do? Are they not responsible for the formulation and recommendation of policies? What does this situation say about their competence, capabilities and knowledge?

Anonymous$&@?: What can right-minded rakyat expect from the half-past-six Umno ministers? The majority of them does not have any experience in the portfolio entrusted to them because they are rent-seekers who were rewarded for their loyalty.

Case in point is the new ambassador to Indonesia.

Ipohcrite: Non-experts become experts because the BN government says so. And this is not limited to the education blueprint but also includes defence purchases of submarines and a whole list of government procurement.

Odin: McKinsey and Company advises inefficient companies on what to do to be efficient, and those that are operating normally on how to reorganise, restructure or re-engineer themselves to compete better in the ever-changing business environment. Education is not its specialty.

Muhyiddin Yassin's appointment of this consultant agency to come up with the blueprint is yet another clear proof of his gross incompetency and stupidity. With morons like him being education minister, it isn't surprising that Malaysia's standard of education is nose diving to the bottom of the Mariana Trench.

Davidfsc: This news truly sends the shivers down my spine. The future of our children's education and generations to come are being compromised by the corrupted Education Ministry.

Every action of the government post-GE13 has been nothing short of plunder and squander at will.

Joker: Let us just elect a PM and then dismiss all other ministers and civil servants and replace them with consultants. After all, if consultants are engaged to draft out national policies and implementing them, of what use is a debate in Parliament or civil servants?

Let Malaysia be the first country in the world to outsource the task of governing and running a country to foreign consultants.
