I find the contents in the letter High and mighty in London's MSD quite disturbing. As the opinions expressed will only create unnecessary fear and anxiety among students, I would like to respond to it.

Although I declare myself as an Umno member, I neither practise discrimination against students subscribing to opposition parties nor blind support for Kelab Umno. For the past two years as the Malaysian students' department director in UK, I am well aware of what the Hizbi organisation and Keadilan have been doing in the UK and Eire.

PAS leaders came and went on three or four occasions. Hizbi has been actively organising gatherings for, especially new Malay students in a bid to influence them (even right now, almost every weekend they organise brainwashing programmes all over the UK). We know about these all along but we did not and will not unnecessarily interfere until there are complaints from their victims.

About 18 months ago, I received a letter from a Hizbi representative from Liverpool complaining about 'Malaysian nights' organised by the Malaysian student associations here in the UK. I invited him and other leaders of Hizbi for a heart-to-heart talk and explore ways that we can work together to benefit our students but they did not respond until the last-minute invitation for me to officiate the wacana kemerdekaan (Merdeka Day talk).

We know that Keadilan is active in Dublin. We know that its president likes to visit Dublin. But we do not interfere. Students are complaining that they are being intimidated by these opposition-biased clubs. We are investigating and yet we do not talk in the open about this.

We know that PAS sent 20 cadres to study some diplomas in Lampeter, Wales. They are not really here to study but to instigate students. We know that hundreds of students from Egypt and Jordan who come and go with Hizbi's blessings on the pretext of finding part-time jobs here but really came with the intention to instigate students. We don't talk about these and yet we are labelled as being biased.

I want to see only organisations with truly Malaysian students as members regardless of ethnicity, creeds or cultures, after all we have more than 70 percent non-Malay students here (who choose to keep quiet and just concentrate on their studies financed by their parents mostly).

We are looking seriously at the registration guideline and would like to propose that only multi-racial societies (with non-political inclination) be registered with the MSD.
