The re-opening of the Dewan Tunku Chancellor (DTC) of the University of Malaya should remind Malaysians and the world that the wild, malicious and unsubstantiated allegations publicly made by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Deputy Housing Minister M Kayveas and Puteri Umno chief Azalina Othman Said, attributing the cause of fire to "arsonists" and "radical students".

If the law and its enforcement are fair and civilised, the trio should have been arrested and charged under the Printing Presses and Publications Act (PPPA) for "spreading false news". Or, they should have been detained under the Internal Security (ISA) for de-stabilising the country by spreading rumours that threatens national security.

Of course, they will never be charged until a new government replaces the current one. In any case, the wild, malicious and unsubstantiated allegation only further adds to the list of the regime's infamy for wild allegations.

Someone must keep a record of all the lies exposed in the past four years to educate the people and future generations of Malaysians how not to be liars.
