Police seize artwork over alleged religious insult

Odin: Oh, I am foaming at the mouth, livid with uncontrollable rage! This J Anurendra fellow has gone beyond all bounds of decency. He has insulted Lord Krishna, Hinduism and Hindus as well as Jesus and Christians.

He has made fun of Lord Krishna by not spelling the name right and referring to him as a 'darkie' (?) through that little girl in his artwork. By omitting the letter ‘I' from the name, he is implying that Hinduism is an incomplete religion and that Hindus are incapable even of spelling the name of one of their deities correctly.

Now to Jesus. Anurendra has portrayed Jesus as a drug addict so far gone that He is as unkempt as a penniless, starving vagrant, one who never cleans even his face and combs his hair. How could Christians ever believe that this being is one of the Holy Trininty? They must be a totally insane lot.

O you Hindus and Christians, why are you all sitting on your rear ends doing nothing? Rise now. Go after this Anurendra fellow. Skin him alive with a very rusty, dull knife. Then rub his exposed flesh with chunks of rock salt. Finally, roast him in an oven.

Oh, but you won't do that, will you? You won't because you are not like M. ‘M' is for morons.

RakyatBiasa: Odin, I like your sense of humour. But where has our sense of humour gone? Really sad, that we have not only lost our sense of humour but our Malaysian identity.

Abasir: This is a clear example of how the uneducated who try to interpret art fall flat on their faces. The police should not have taken away the works from the exhibition just because some uneducated idiot complained that the painting insulted Islam.

The PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) should send some of their brighter officers for art appreciation classes. Perhaps Mr Anurendra might be able to help?

Tembikai: The artwork is a protest against the American invasion of Iraq. Then United States president George W Bush was commonly depicted as a monkey and was called an idiot. The red and white flag with skull and crossbones was also a common depiction of the US flag as a sign of protest.

The picture of the military pilot is to indicate the military invasion of Iraq. The word ‘Mission Accomplished' was the same words displayed on a banner on board USS Abraham Lincoln when Bush officially declared that the war in Iraq was over.

My4Hope: How many days Malaysia could spare if the unlearned speak and dominate the consensus of majority? Silence is not golden, but disastrous always. Only courage could prevail before the truth does.

Tan Kim Keong: Given the intelligence that God gave to us humans, we should know that perception could be very deceiving. Yet we find humans from the Islamic NGO Muafakat reacting to their own perception.

Imagine Malaysia a country where the fabric of society and its behaviour is based on reaction to perception. Hope we are not heading toward a country of idiots!

Jesse: "I" for "Idiot" is most apt as it certainly applies to the complainant and the police who should be chasing criminals instead of ghosts.
