Bus in Genting accident was public transportation

The Resorts World Genting management, which expressed sadness over the Genting Highlands bus tragedy, said the vehicle was public transportation which plied the Genting access road on a daily basis to Jalan Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur.

In a statement tonight, it said the bus accident occurred at approximately 3.5km from the resort.
It also conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and sympathised with the injured victims. The company would render all necessary assistance, the management said.
Resorts World said it had provided doctors, ambulance vehicles and equipment such as cranes, and food at the site of the crash to assist the Bentong police and other rescue agencies.
The statement said that following the accident, the downhill road from the Chin Swee Temple at 2km to the 4.3km stretch, was currently closed to traffic.
However, the main uphill road to the resort remains open and traffic going downhill is temporarily diverted at Chin Swee Temple to Kuala Lumpur.
The accident, which has claimed 37 lives including that of the bus driver, occurred at KM3.6 Jalan Genting Highlands when the bus ferrying 53 passengers plunged into a 60-metre ravine on its way down from Genting Highlands to the federal capital.
