PAS has given Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's first 100 days in office the thumbs down for failing to bring down the national debt, curb crime and tackle inflation.

Its vice-president Mahfuz Omar said there is no "clear commitment" in Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's administration to fulfil his promises, even after 100 days after GE13.

"He has failed to live up to any of his promises he made before the general election. In terms of national reconciliation, I have seen no clear commitment towards that," he told a press conference at the PAS headquarters in Kuala Lumpur today.

Mahfuz pointed out that Najib’s primary focus appears to be on the Umno elections instead.

Najib had promised to work on national reconciliation to mend ethnic ties, based on his arguments that voters had voted based on racial lines, although this the opposition claim it the results showed a rural-urban divide.

However, race rhetorics has been on the rise, particularly from Umno backers, and Najib has said little about this.

Meanwhile, Mahfuz also complained that Najib appeared to have made no efforts to help stem inflation.

He cited how chicken prices had soared during the recent festive season unabated.

"After the election, the rakyat have been burdened with higher cost of living. I am sure that the price of chicken will not go down any further.

"This reflects the government’s failure in managing the issue of people’s livelihood,” said Mahfuz.
