The writer of the letter Right to be born, in suggesting that the life of the innocent child is more valued than the emotional state of the pregnant rape survivor, is guilty of hypocrisy in the first order.

How can one say that a woman who is pregnant because of a rape should carry the baby to term because the child has a right to live? What about the right of the woman? She has already been raped, and she has to suffer nine months of agony carrying a child she doesn't want. For example, imagine carrying your father's child and then going through labour pain just so to honour the birth right of an unwanted child.

If you are playing god, then play fair. No abortion under any conditions, or give the poor woman who had the most misfortune to carry an unwanted child a choice.

I am personally an anti-abortionist. That is in cases like a patient telling me that she is not ready to have another child because she is going overseas or she may lose some job opportunities. In these cases, women have a choice to prevent pregnancy.

If she had the choice but didn't bother to plan her pregnancy and want an easy way out by having an abortion, then it is wrong. But it is not the same for a woman who has been raped. She had no choice.
