I totally and wholeheartedly agree with Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad who said that those who voted for PAS in the Pendang and Bukit Anak by-elections are fanatical and irrational.

The world has changed and modernised, but these fanatical and irrational people still think that religious scholars and theologians can solve all their problems in life. However, these are not the only group of fanatical and irrational people in Malaysia.

There are also those who stubbornly reject national integration by insisting on preserving Chinese and Tamil schools, as well as the Arabic madrassah. They live in the worlds of the past when their ancient languages were once great.

The 21st century is a century of the English language. Mahathir must not hesitate to also crack down on these language extremists and close their schools after the next general election.

Only by being firm could national unity and integration, as well as rationality and moderation be achieved in Malaysia.
