Many of those who are against hudud (Islamic penal code), by conservative instinct or sheer prejudice against Islam, seem to have conveniently forgotten that there are also prescriptions for the death penalty in the existing secular penal code.

Should we not also campaign to abolish the death penalty altogether because taking away another's life is against the multiethnic and multireligious society in Malaysia?

The Buddhist and Christian religions do not condone the death penalty as it is a sin to take another's life in their view.

Why is there no objection or opposition to the secular death penalty from the champions of multiethnic and multireligious society? Isn't it hypocritical and a double-standard?
