The Kuala Lumpur police headquarters have urged Inspector S Hare Krishnan, who claim that he was being framed for N Dhamendran's death, to surrender himself and have his statements recorded.

In a press release late this evening, Kuala Lumpur police chief Mohmad Salleh it was important to follow the necessary procedures.

"His presence is vital to help him explain issues raised in his police report and the news article," he said.

Mohmad was referring to Malaysiakini's exclusive report on Hare Krishnan's police report lodged on June 1, a week after Dhamendran died while under police detention.

Hare Krishnan wrote in the police report that there were attempts to frame him in order to protect certain individuals.

Thus far, three police personnel were charged with causing Dhamendran's death. The police claim that Hare Krishnan is the fourth suspect and that he had gone absent without leave since June 15.

Mohmad said that if Hare Krishnan does not comply, he is delaying investigations and delaying justice that the latter and other interested parties are seeking.
