In the letter titled Hudud affects M'sians of all faiths, FJ Wang wrote: "Everyone, including non-Muslims, have a stake in the nation and its character as a modern nation and not one that regresses to the antiquated laws and customs in force thousands of years ago that were influenced by Arabic traditions foreign to local ones."

I felt sad to read the above quote. For me, the writer appears to be questioning what the Muslims believe as laws stated by god.

It is similar to telling the Hindus that it is an antiquated law for them not to eat beef.

I hope those who critisise hudud or other religious laws will be more careful in their words. If you do not know... then try to find friends from other religions and try to understand each other better.

If you expect Muslims to respect non- muslims rights, then the non-muslims should respect muslim rights too.

We cannot have a compromise if only one side moves towards the compromise while the other remains idle. Both sides must moves towards each other so that a compromise can be reached and ensure religious harmony in the country.

Discussing religious issues in a mature manner is not discussing it in a way that will hurt others' feelings.

Discussing hudud laws in a mature way is to discuss its implementation, not questioning it or branding it as antique.
