COMMENT No benefit in being mean. Limited benefit in being stupid.

This is a work of absolute plagiarism, including grammatically.

BEING mean is never ever a good thing in writing.

I know we place loads of emphasis on being sensational and sassy sounding in order to attract readers, and yes, those attributes can make for a good article.

However, blobs of meanness in any part of a commentary are always bad news.

If we are in a situation where someone puts phrases like "Spot the neck" or "Guess Who's Preggers" in an article, then Houston, yes we have a problem. May day! May Day! Such a person might use a phrase like "The bitch is in the house", but I think we should aspire not to be such people.

Let's just use a very simple analogy. In the animal kingdom, think of all the animals at the top of the food chain. The lion, the panther, the cheetah, the tiger, and the list goes on.

What do they all have in common? Apart from being a very menacing lot, they all have little of value to offer humans. This is very unlike a pig, cow or panda, which cannot at all compare in terms of lethal qualities, and yet in the case of the former one or two at least, provide a lot more of value in sustaining human life (Oh, and did you know that hippos cause more human deaths than any other animal in Africa?). Even in the ocean, the much smaller shark that lacks in size can sometimes harm whales. (I asked this whale about that, she replied NOMNOMNOM)

You must aspire very assiduously to be thin

In any case, I believe the point is that in our obviously cannibalistic society, (or the zombie apocalypse that is just as obviously inevitable), you must aspire very assiduously to be thin: it will mean the difference between being the eater, and being the eaten.

You see, when one is too mean, one simply cannot function or write properly. In the intellectual sense, how can one defend oneself? How can one be the most spiritually content?

I would personally never bet on a person who is bordering on meanness. I know lots of people say that many successful people are mean.

Could be. Depends on how you define success, I guess.

A tendency towards being mean belongs to the judgmental writer. The writer who earns a high salary and leads a comfortable life, but will never truly know or understand love.

Kind people do not necessarily frequently wine and dine in the best places, but there is a control to how much they care about that sort of thing.

Mean people do not control

Now isn't control, the reason for their happiness? Mean people do not control.

Being mean is simply a sign of a person who lacks compassion. He indulges way too much.

Do you see any gargantuan rulers? I see five here, and one (possibly two) here.

Even if there are, their rule does not last long. When one is carrying so much weight about, they are literally burdened with deadweight. This is an example of deadweight.

And as we all know, mean ranting does not produce benefits. It simply drags a piece of writing down.

Sure, they give the author a sense of smug self-righteousness, but they give an article less power and make it less attractive.

A jelly brain simply makes a commentary and the commentator looks more aesthetically displeasing and brings her a step closer to professional failure and ignominy. Observe this.

Roly-poly just aren't as agile or nimble as their leaner competitors. Their brains also cannot move as fast when their hearts are working extra hard to pump oxygen through their clogged arteries.

Obviously, this is backed by solid scientific evidence. Anyone who has claim to have seen an intelligent fat person is clearly either too stupid or too fat to recognise intelligence or beauty.

In society, unfortunately, mean people sometimes get more attention than kind ones. This is pretty much true across genders.

Run away from me...

So gals, if you're bordering or even edging towards publishing ridiculous mean things about people, I would urgently suggest going for a run. Away from me, if that is at all an option. Your best investment for the moment is a little bit of soul searching. A book or two may not hurt either.

Forget going to the salon or for a facial. He won't notice how the blonde highlights frame the type of brain that would say such hurtful things.

His first few thoughts shall be: 60 pounds... donkey on the radar. Run.

In other words, he sees a mean girl who is not presentable, and one who does not take care of herself, or of others.

It is always bad news when one has no compassion. You know, when a person is so mean that she her thinks that it's OK to shame people in public because of their bodies.

I know many people will say that they this rich person, or that CEO who has this feature and is very successfully. (If I met one of these many people, I would say kindly to she her, "It is ‘successful', not ‘successfully', my dear.")

Yes, perhaps for a fleeting while, but it will not last. The tide of lard will eventually come to sabotage the initial success. This, however, will not happen in Malaysia, because we simply do not abide by lard or other pig products of any sort.

There is no need to read one's face when one already has already read one's article. First of all, this person will most likely be in denial of his situation.

They aren't exactly honest either. They tend to lie, and in many instance it is to make themselves look better in the public eye.

Great talkers, to mask the denial of their situation

Not to be discriminatory, but this level of mean people are also lazier than usual. They aren't doers. They are great talkers though. This is to mask the denial of their situation, and the great insecurity they have about their looks. They talk about anything else, to deflect attention from all that excessive emotional weight.

This is nothing but a ticking time bomb. Not cool.

Now just using plain common sense, by which I mean the sense that I - obviously a medical professional in the scientifically acknowledged field of face reading - am eminently qualified to propound, fat in the stomach and waist are the absolute worst kind of fat to have.

It is known as visceral fat, and too much of this fat gives a person a way higher chance of heart diseases, diabetes and even infertility.

Unfortunately, this is a feature seen quite often in skinny men who don't workout.

The effects start to become obvious mid-thirties onwards. Quite a turn off, isn't it. The guy is thin, but he's got a paunch that protrudes pretty obviously.

The worst is when the guy has a small waistline, but has a tummy. In Mian Xiang, this kind of people are normally said to be poor, middle ages onwards. Unfortunate waistlines are never associated with wealth.

These last few paragraphs are especially poignant, because they also explain why I will probably soon lose my job and become infertile, the latter of which probably will not matter given the fact that it seems I will be forever alone. #SkinnyWithPaunch.

An article is an important indicator in seeing how well a person thinks. A petty or mean mind is never a good look. As I said earlier, we like a heart with a certain amount of compassion, as it shows goodness.

Hence, keep that heart sincere. It's a much better indicator of a person's value than he his or she her waistline.

They say imitation is the best form of flattery; for this article Nathaniel Tan quoted heavily from Tee Lin Say’s piece. She has since apologised so perhaps we can all leave her alone now. Nat believes everyone should keep working at being healthy, and love their bodies, whatever shape they are (albeit not too often, because that sort of thing causes blindness). He knows he's not as funny as he thinks he is, but still tweets @NatAsasi.
